Deathbed repentance is like burning both ends of a candle while sowing your wild oats, then blowing out a useless candle, and giving God your empty plate. Anyone who would dare to wait till death was knocking at their door to repent is neither sorrowful or regretful for their sins, but rather is telling God, I have nothing left to give to you, but mere words.
Is a thief repentant when they continue to steal? Is a murder repentant when they continue to kill? Is an adulterer repentant when they continue to live in sin? True repentance makes one godly sorrowful enough to cease from sin, and to turn to God. It is U-Turning from sinful ways, to God’s Way. There’s no repentance available once we’ve been laid to rest. No one can ever repent too soon in life, because we never know how soon it may be everlasting too late.
