Degrees All Christians Must Attain

There are many, many preachers in both the denominational world, and within the church who have biblical degrees obtained from universities and colleges throughout the world. Paul was a very learned man who according to the Spirit was second to none. However, Paul said all that he had attained in the world he counted nothing but dung that he might win Christ. Philip 3:8 A Christian never graduates and receives their crown of life until their life is complete. Rev 2:10; Rev 3:11 No matter how much one studies, no matter how intelligent one is, the truth of God can never be achieved until they cast off all the doctrines of men, and the wisdom of the world, and start abiding by the doctrine of Christ. 2 Jn 9 Let’s take a look at the kind of degrees every Christian must possess to be able to obey the Word of God, and to be able to teach the doctrine of Christ.

1. B.L. (Bible Language) In order to obtain this degree, one must accept the exact statement of Scripture on every question of Faith, Doctrine, and Practice, speaking where the bible speaks and being silent where the bible is silent. 1 Pet 4:11 One must learn not to go beyond what the scriptures stipulated. 1 Cor 4:6  One must understand that without this degree, we will not receive a crown of life. Rev 22:18,19

2. B.R. (Bible Reverence). The one obtaining this degree must allow the Scriptures to mean exactly what they say, and say exactly what they mean. Believing that the Bible is its own best interpreter is a must in obeying the Word of God. One must lay aside the lexicons, the commentaries, and worldly books, and allow God’s Word to define and prove itself. 1 Thess 5:21  Until we have obtained this degree, we can’t prove, defend, or contend for the faith. Eph 5:10; Philip 1:15-18; Jude 3

3. B.A. (Bible Authority). To receive this degree, one must accept the Scriptures without reservations as the absolute, and final authority on all matters pertaining unto life and godliness. 2 Pet 1:3 The Scriptures must be accepted to come straight from God the Father, and are profitable to us for doctrine, reproof, and instruction. 2 Tim 3:16 We must accept that every word spoken by the apostles are truth, and to be obeyed as truth. Jn 17:17 Until we obtain this degree, we don’t have the faith needed to obtain eternal life.

4. D.O.M. (Doctrines of Men) This is one degree that no Christian should ever want or possess. To obtain the first 3 degrees, one must cast aside their degrees of the world. The knowledge of the world conflicts with the knowledge of God. Philip 3:8 Philosophies, and basic principles of the world do not coincide with the Word of God. Col 2:8 Until we cast all of the doctrines of men, we are worshiping God in vain. Mt 15:7-9

Conclusion: We will never find the truth of God in the words and wisdom of men. Until we have graduated with each of these 3 degree we can’t win our ultimate degree, and that is our crown of life. Rev 2:10
