Patiently Sowing the Seeds of the Kingdom of Heaven

Sometimes preachers preach God’s Word their entire life to no avail. They preach to deaf ears, and harden hearts, and no one is converted, and no one repents. Heb 3:7,8

It reminds me of a gospel meeting that was conducted by a small congregation in order to bring in new members, and to encourage its membership. The gospel meeting had a prolific speaker, and was greatly advertised, and well attended. However, only one old farmer, and his 3 sons come forth after the 7 days of persuasive sermons. The elders who had sacrificed the church’s savings to fund the meeting were so disappointed, that after such an event, only 4 were brought to Christ.

Twenty years later the old farmer was still an old dirt farmer, but his 3 sons all made gospel preachers who went on to preach the gospel of Christ for more than 50 years. Sometimes, what we think as failure, God makes into success.

As Paul stated, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gives the increase.” 1 Cor 3:6 Isaiah said of God’s Word, “It shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and prosper where I send it.” Isa 55:11

As we sow the seeds of his gospel, remember this, God’s seed is imperishable, and lives and abides forever. 1 Pet 1:23 It may not not bring forth immediately, or in the way we might think is should, but rest assured it will accomplish what God intended for it to accomplish. We just need to wait for it patiently. “Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap.” For those who sow of the Spirit, “Let us not be weary in well doing, for in due time we shall reap if we faint not.” Gal 6:7,9
