3 Things Christ Can’t Do For Us

It’s hard to even imagine anything Christ or God can’t do. Often many rely on the verse which says, “With God nothing shall be impossible.” Lk 1:37 If understood in the context that God and Christ are righteous and can’t sin, then yes, nothing shall be impossible. From the beginning of the world the Word was settled in heaven, and set in stone which can’t be changed. According to that Word, here are 3 things Christ can’t do for us.

Christ Can’t Save An Unwilling Heart

It’s true God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. Jn 3:16 It’s true Christ came and died on the cruel cross of Calvary for the remission of our sins. 1 Cor 15:1-4 It’s true he built his church, and established a gospel to we all must be faithful. Mt 16:18; Rev 2:10  Yes, Christ paved the way for our eternal life, but it’s totally up to each individual to walk that strait and narrow path which leads to life everlasting. 2 Jn 6; Mt 7:13,14

It’s totally up to us after hearing the gospel to either believe or not. Jn 8:24 It’s up to us if we are willing to confess that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God. Mt 10:32,33 It’s up to us if we are willing to repent and be baptized for the remission of our sins. Acts 2:38 It’s up to us if we are willing to take up our cross daily and abide in the doctrine of Christ. Lk 9:23; 2 Jn 9  God did his part, and Christ did he part, and now it’s up to us to do our part that we might have eternal life.

Christ Can’t Rain Down Knowledge To Us

You will hear some who will say that God revealed the Word through them. In a way they are right, but not in the same way the apostles gained knowledge. They received knowledge from on high via the Holy Spirit as Jesus had promised them. Jn 16:13 However, after the scriptures came, that type of knowledge vanished away. 1 Cor 13:8-10

Today, in order to obtain knowledge one must read, study and search the scriptures. 1 Tim 4:13; 2 Tim 2:15; Acts 17:11 They must apply the principles of rightly dividing the Word of truth, and not alter the Word by adding or taking from it. 1 Pet 4:11; 1 Cor 4:6

Christ Can’t Preach The Gospel Unto All The World

When Christ was on the earth he came only to the lost house of Israel. Mt 15:24 He never preached to the Gentiles. To this end he sent forth his apostles to go into all the world. Mt 28:18-20; Mk 16:15,16 Paul asked, “Have they not all heard?” Yes their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. Rom 10:18; Paul said to the Colossians that the gospel had been preached to every creature under the heaven. Col 1:23

The preaching of the gospel is a continuum for each, and every future generation. If mature, well seasoned Christian men don’t preach the gospel of Christ, who will? Paul said, the things which you have heard of me among many witnesses, commit the same to faithful men who shall be able to teach others also. 2 Tim 2:2

Conclusion: We read the signs every day that “Christ paid it all.” This many say insinuating that we need only to believe in Christ, and do nothing more in order to be saved. Yes, Christ did all that was required of him. Now it’s our turn to do all that’s required of us. Three things we must do which Christ can’t do for us: obey the gospel of Christ, study His Word, and preach the Word to all the world in and out of season. 2 Tim 4:2-5  The destination of your soul lies with you. Obey the Lord today. 2 Cor 6:2
