Speaking where the bible speaks, and silent where the bible is silent.

“For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that does truth comes to the light that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” (Jn 3:20, 21.)

I have lived long enough to see several United States presidents investigated. Nixon was investigated in Watergate and removed from office. Carter was investigated over his Peanut business and survived but one term. Reagan was investigated over Iran-Contra and barely survived. Clinton was investigated over Whitewater and subsequently Monica Lewinsky, and barely survived an impeachment trial. Now we have Trump being investigated over Russia intervening in an American election, and like his predecessors, he doesn’t like all the scrutiny. We all must remember this about any kind of investigation: If truth is on our side, we have nothing to fear! That’s politics, but what about God’s Word?

Error is usually a coward when it comes to honest investigation. The individual who realizes that he stands on sand or shaky ground, will not want “to come to the light” to have his belief and practices thoroughly investigated. But such is not so with the lover and doer of truth. Truth has absolutely nothing to fear from investigation. The man who has built upon the rock, will never fear discussion, argumentation or debating of his beliefs and practices. He is always ready and willing to “contend for the faith.” (Jude 3) He is set for a defense of the gospel (Philip 1:15-18) and is never ashamed of it (Rom 1:16). The truth-lover stands up for Christ and His Gospel under all circumstances. He will not compromise for the sake of popularity for peace. Though he is a lover of peace and unity, he will not forsake truth to obtain them. He understands that peace and unity must have God’s Word as its basis.

Sadly, there are many people who claim to be Christians but will not even discuss with one what they believe. They shy away from contending and debating their cause. They are not “ready to give answer to every man that asks them for a reason for the hope that is in them. They are not “set for a defense” of the Gospel. They will not “contend for the faith” or “fight the good fight of the faith.” Reproving or rebuking is contrary to their idea of peace at any price. They are spiritual cowards and deserters of God’s army.

Anyone who is not willing that his position be thoroughly investigated and compared with the Bible — is either a coward or realizes that he stands on sand. Truth does not fear honest inquiry. The light of investigation makes truth shine brightly, but error is shone for what it truly is. Therefore, the false teacher hates the light, and loves the darkness.

What do you believe brethren? Do you have Bible for it? If so…then fight for the truth with all of your might; preach it; teach it; debate it; argue for it; contend for it; stand up for it at all times and under every circumstance! But, on the other hand, if you can find NO Bible for what you believe or the Bible contradicts your belief…then I can understand why you do not want to come to the light of investigation; I can see why you are a coward and work “behind the scenes” to ensnare people in your philosophies; I can understand why you do not want to debate your cause; yes, anyone can see why you are afraid of investigation. After all, error hates the light and loves the darkness.

These are serious matters. Think honestly about your religious beliefs. Study the Bible and believe ONLY what is found therein. Leave aside all of your pet opinions and projects and contend for the Faith.

You are either on God’s side or on the world’s side. Anyone who attempts to stand on both sides will be spewed out of the mouth of God! (Rev 3:15,16) Let us “PROVE all things, and HOLD FIRM that which is good.” (1 Thess 5:21)
