“Christ has no hands but our hands to do His work today” is how the song begins. Jesus said, “For it is just like a man about to go on a journey, who called his own slaves, and entrusted his possessions to them.” Matthew 25:14.
We have been entrusted with the possessions of Jesus. If any gain is to come from them, we must work. God is not going to broadcast the gospel over a powerful loudspeaker from a helicopter. He is not going to wing the gospel down from heaven by the power of angels. He has entrusted the gospel to faithful Christian men, and commanded them to preach to every creature. Paul wrote, “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Tim 2:2).
The trust Jesus has put in His disciples is an amazing thing. He has bound Himself so that the success or failure of the gospel is up to His followers. He has said, “I trust you to preach to every creature.” Then He has gone away to leave us to do it.
Christian men, you are vital if the gospel is to be preached unto all the world. This kind of job cannot be done by one man alone. Stop depending upon your preacher or a small group of elders to teach the Word of God. They cannot do it sufficiently by themselves. It takes an army of faithful Christian men to accomplish the commandment of Jesus Christ (Mt 28:18-20 f; Mk 16:16). He depends on you to get the job of teaching done. Dont make excuses. He knows you better than you know yourself. You can do it, and He knows you can do it. Stop allowing others to do the job Christ delegated directly to you. Simply respond to His great trust in you by doing it. Preach the Word to every creature you come in contact with who is willing to hear it! Woe unto you if you don’t (1 Cor 9:16).
