The church of Christ is the envy of the world. It is the only church in which the bible speaks about in great detail. You won’t find the Catholic church, the Baptist church, the Presbyterian church, the Mormon church, or any denominational church ever mentioned in the bible, nor will you find their doctrines. Why? Because these kind of churches never emanated from Christ. They came from the vain imaginations of man himself. The Church of Christ is surely identified in the sacred writings of the bible. Look at some of the things the Bible says about this church:
Christ is the builder. Yes, it was the Lord Himself who said, “Upon this rock I will build my church” (Matt. 16:18). Jesus’ determination is herein stated! Now, He either kept this promise or He did not. As we further read of its existence, we must conclude that He kept the promise faithfully.
Christ is the foundation. Paul wrote the 1 Corinthian letter and informed them of that fact that he had laid the foundation for the church there by preaching the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Then he concludes by saying, “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 3:10,11; 15:1-4). In the same figure of a building, Peter affirms Jesus to be the “head (stone) of the corner” (Acts 4:11, 12).
Christ purchased the church. The people who make up the church are blood-bought; this is the price for sin. Paul says that Christ purchased the church with His own blood (Acts 20:28). Peter shows that the blood of Jesus was the price paid for the souls that constitute the church (1 Pet. 1:18, 19).
Christ is the head of the body (church) of Christ into which all members are baptized (1 Cor 12:13,27). The church must have a head to function. It is not headless, like a denomination when its human head dies, but Christ is forever the head of it (Col 1:18 f; Eph. 1:21-23 ). The head gives direction, and having Christ as the absolute head, the direction of the church of Christ is divine and always true.
Christ is the Savior of the church. Paul says this is true in Ephesians 5:22-32. He will take it to glory! The church is sufficient for your needs. If you attend a denominational church, you are definitely in the wrong church if it is your intent to be saved. The churches of Christ contains the manifold wisdom of God (Eph 3:10). The churches of Christ is the foundation of the truth (1 Tim 3:15).
The church of Christ which our Lord died for speaks where the bible speaks and doesn’t go beyond that which was written (1 Pet 4:11 f; 1 Cor 4:6). The church of Christ worships God in spirit and in truth (Jn 4:23,24). To gain entry into the church of Christ one must obey the gospel of Christ (1 Cor 15:1-4). Upon hearing the gospel they must believe in their heart that Jesus is the Christ and confess such with their mouth (Rom 10:8-10). They must repent and be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38). Then are they added to the church of Christ by Christ himself (Acts 2:27). This is a fact all must face eventually: If you are not a member of the churches of Christ and you die that way, you will spend an eternity in hell! The good news is, the church of Christ is all sufficient to teach you, guide you, and make you into a faithful Christian worthy of salvation!
