Two wrongs never make one right. In America, we live in a country that basically has two political parties. Combined together, you have a nation that would make Sodom and Gomorrah blush. Just for the record, let’s take both parties to task and then let God decide which one is justified.
The Democratic Party
This has been called the poor man’s party. When they get into office they readily tax the wealthy to give benefits to the poor. They raise the minimum wage and increase welfare programs. Sounds like a good party to belong to if you are poor, that is, until one examines what they advocate.
The Democratic party advocates abortion on demand for any cause. They also defend the lifestyles of homosexuals and lesbians, live-ins, and most any kind of sexual perversion. Recently they have extended gays the right to marriage, making them equal under the law to heterosexual marriages. It is easy to see why many call the Democratic party the anti-God party.
The Republican Party
This has been called the rich man’s party. They advocate morality and lower taxes for most everyone. This sounds like a good party to belong to until one examines them more closely.
The republican party believe in giving very large tax breaks to the most affluent people. Their theory is that if the government gives money to the rich that they in turn will hire the poor. What happens afterward is that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer because the rich keep the tax breaks and live lavishly. Secondly, they do not believe America should have a minimum wage for workers. Thirdly, they are against social security for the aged. Fourthly, they are against government supported healthcare for the poor and working class. Is it any wonder why the Republican party is called the rich man’s party?
Commonality In Both Parties
Both the Democratic and Republican party advocate adultery. Despite the Republican party advocating religion and morality, they are still the only party to have presidents who have been married multiplied times (Ford and Reagan). Despite the Democrats advocating any kind of pernicious life style, no democrat to date has ever served as president who was married more than once? Nevertheless, the Democratic party see nothing wrong with adultery, fornication, homosexuality, or most perverted acts. In fact, they see nothing wrong with a gay or lesbian congressman, senator or president.
Despite the fact that Republicans are quick to condemn Bill Clinton for his extramarital affairs in and out of the White House, several Republican presidents have engaged in like behavior.
No matter who is elected president, seemingly nothing changes. Democrats promise to aid the poor, but rarely delivers anything more than empty rhetoric. Republicans promise to end abortion and gay rights, but rarely anything changes once they are in office.
Perhaps this is why Ronald Reagan (R) and House Speaker Tip O’neal (D) were best friends and often ate together socially in the White House. The facts are very clear that both political parties stand for evil and promise money to those who will elect them.
Did you know that both political parties give money to religious groups to vote for them and to preach their party line from their pulpits? Is it any wonder why members of the Lord’s church are advocating what political parties promote? This is why adultery is destroying the church as we know it. This is why certain members of the Lord’s church believe gays and lesbians are born that way. This is why members of the Lord’s church are living together in sin, yet remain in good standing with the church.
We are in another general election year where political rhetoric is being preached as though it was contained in the doctrine of Christ. Despite what is written or preached to condemn intermingling politics and religion, it continues. It continues because churches prosper because of political bribes. It continues because both parties divide this nation: rich against poor, white against black, citizen against immigrant, and man against woman. Jesus said it well, ““Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand” (Mt 12:25). Remember this, God loves the poor and God loves righteousness (Jam 2:5 f; Ps 33:5). This is something both political parties need to learn.
I know this much, that Sodom and Gomorrah were condemned for their immorality and greed. “Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughter had pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy, and they were haughty and committed abomination before Me; therefore I took them away as I saw fit” (Ezek 16:49,50). America epitomizes the attributes of immorality and greed more than any nation known to mankind. God destroyed those wicked cities, and unless America repents of its wickedness God will destroy it as well. “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God” (Ps 9:17).
If we as Christians want to end the sin of homosexuality, abortion, and greed, we need to preach the gospel and doctrine of Christ and his apostles and not the political rhetoric of the day! (2 Tim 4:2-5). If we want to soften the hardships of the poor, Christians need to do good unto all men, especially fellow brethren (Gal 6:10). Let Christians obey the laws of the land, honor our leaders, knowing they are subject to and appointed by God (Rom 13:1-5). Even more so, let every Christian obey the laws of God and preach His Word to every nation! (Mk 16:15,16). Do this and you shall do well.
