You have heard the old cliche’, “We will all meet in heaven but will get there by a different path”. Really? Let’s face it, Jesus built only one church and that one church is the only one who will have members in heaven. However, how do we know which is the right church?
If the Baptist are right, everyone who believes in Jesus are going to heaven. That would mean all Catholic and protestant religions will be in heaven. However, the Baptist doctrine contradicts the doctrine of Christ which requires baptism and belief (Mk 16:16). Did Jesus get it all wrong. Is Jesus the false prophet or are the Baptists?
If Catholics are right, everyone who has ever had a drop of water hit their head will be in heaven. However, this contradicts the doctrine of Christ which requires belief (Rom 10:10). Almost all protestant religions contradict one another in some form or fashion. All can’t be right, though all can be wrong.
So, who has it right? It’s the church which teaches the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the gospel of Christ (1 Cor 15:1-4). It is the church which requires one to hear this gospel in order to be saved (Rom 10:17). It is the church which requires one to believe Jesus is the Christ in their heart and confess such with their mouth (Rom 10:9,10). It is the church which requires one to repent and be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38). In order to be saved we must be buried with Christ by baptism and raised to walk in the newness of life (Rom 6:3,4). It is the church which requires one to worship God in spirit and in truth. It is the church which requires one to continue in the apostolic doctrine. It is the church which forbids one not to add to or take from God’s Word (Gal 1:6-9 f; 1 Cor 4:6). It is the church which requires one to be faithful to the doctrine of Christ until death (Rev 2:10).
Does this church have a name? Oddly, many say no. However, the bible verily gives the church a definitive name and it can’t be denied. Peter said there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus said he would build HIS church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Mt 16:18). All Christians are added to the church by Christ (Acts 2:47). All Christians are members of the BODY of Christ (1 Cor 12:27). Jesus is the head of the BODY, which is also called the CHURCH (Col 1:18).
Forget the names you have heard in the denominational world. The church which Christ built is called the BODY or the CHURCH of CHRIST and all faithful CHRISTIANS are added to it and are members of it. There is only one WAY to the heaven and it is through Jesus Christ (Jn 14:6). If you are not a member of the church of Christ which teaches only the gospel and doctrine of Christ, then you are definitely in the wrong place if you intend on going to heaven when you die. When we all get to heaven may be the song, but the truth of the matter is this, only the saved will get to heaven. No man comes to the Father but by Jesus Christ and none other.
