Do You Believe In God? Most, if not all, denominations says yes! I know of no church of Christ members who deny God’s existence. This they say by their words, but their actions deny him. As Paul said, “They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate” (Tit 1:16).
How can anyone believe in God and deny his Word? Yet, that is what most so called Christians are doing. They have dissected God’s Word like a chef dissects a piece of meat. They keep the part they like and discard the part which they dislike. They use lexicons to redefine the words of the bible to say that which the bible condemns. They use commentaries in equality or even superiority to the bible.
How can anyone who say that they believe in God call those who follow God’s Word a “legalist” or a “hypocrite”? The truth of the matter is this, we can’t love God and hate his Word. If we love God we will keep his commandments (Jn 14:15). If we hate God’s Word, God will send us strong delusions to believe lies (2 Thess 2:10).
Thus, we see so called “religious” people who claim that they believe in God, but are committing adultery, fornication, and indulging in greedy acts against the poor. They profess that they know God, but they teach for doctrine the commandments and doctrines of men (Mt 15:7-9). They profess that they love God, but deny that God is the author of every word in the bible (2 Tim 3:16,17).
Atheists read the bible, but they don’t obey it. Atheists quote scripture in hope to prove it contains contradictions. Atheists see no reason to worship God because they deny God’s existence. Atheists live selfish and immoral lives because they have no moral values based upon godly principles. Atheists place their trust in the words of men and not the words of God. Atheists redefine marriage. Atheists rename sin. Sadly, most so called Christians are nothing more than atheists disguised as the children of light (2 Cor 11:13-15).
If we truly believe in God we will acknowledge His Word as truth (Jn 17:17). If we truly believe in God we won’t go beyond that which was written (1 Cor 4:6). If we truly believe in God we will never equate man’s Words with God’s Word (1 Thess 2:13). If we truly believe in God we will obey God’s Word (1 Jn 5:3).
