Speaking where the bible speaks, and silent where the bible is silent.

Biblical Proof

If a person is to make a friend, they first must show themselves friendly, and as Solomon wrote, there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. Prov 18:24 Abraham was called the friend of God because of his faith and obedience to God. Ex 33:17 f; Jam 2:23 Today, all those who obey the gospel are called the friends of Jesus Christ.  Jn 15:13,14

So, how can we be called the friends of God, and not the friends of fellow Christians? How can we be friends of the world and still friends of God?  The scriptures tell us that the rich have many friends, and that the poor and the righteous are hated of this world. Prov 14:20 All those who are a friend of this world are the enemy of God. Jam 4:4

Jesus said, think not that the world hate you, for it hated Me first. They hated Christ because he testified that their works were evil;  Jn 7:7 And Christians shall be hated of all men (sinners) for the name of Christ, but he that endures to the end shall be saved. Matt 10:22 For the truth sake we become the enemies of the world. Gal 4:16 Yet we shall be loved among the faithful, for all who love God will also love fellow brethren. Christians can’t love God and hate the brotherhood. 1 Jn 4:20

All Christians are commanded by Jesus Christ to love fellow brethren even as Christ also loved us. This we must do that all mankind may know that we are the disciples of Christ. Jn 13:34,35 Those who hate fellow Christians abide in darkness because darkness has blinded their eyes, but they that love fellow brethren dwell in the light. 1 Jn 2:8-11 Those who hate their brother is a murderer, and shall not inherit eternal life. 1 Jn 3:15

Faithful Christians help fellow brethren, and bear one another’s burdens. Gal 6:2 They who have this worlds possessions, and share not with the needy brethren have not the love of God within them. 1 Jn 3:17,18

Jesus said that when we help those who are hungry, thirsty, strangers, naked, or sick we are doing it also unto Him. Jn 25:45 When the poor are oppressed or mocked, our God is also taunted. Prov 14:31 f; Prov 17:5 How can Christians love and assist the wicked, and reject God’s chosen vessels, and not expect the wrath of God upon them? 2 Chron 19:2 Christians are to do good unto all mankind, but especially those who are of the household of faith. Gal 6:10

If we want to be the friend of God, we must first be the friends of God’s children. This we must do both in word and in deed. 1 Jn 3:18

“Above all things have fervent love for one another, for Love will cover a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”

Bottom line, if you hate a fellow brother, even an alien brother and treat them as an enemy, you are not the friend of God. 2 Thess 3:14,15
