It is impossible for a closed minded person to obey the gospel of Christ. It is also impossible to correct a closed minded Christian who has gone astray. It is strictly dangerous for any Christian to be closed minded as to believe that they are 100% correct and everyone else is wrong. Most in the Lord’s church are closed minded, believing that they have the absolute truth of God. These are they who follow the crowd and do whatever the elders and preacher of their respective church teaches, and never reads and studies the bible for themselves. Their teachers are quick to call anyone who challenges their belief heretics, legalists, and false prophets.
What is odd is that denominations teach the exact same way. Their converts are two fold more the child of hell than themselves because of this. Anyone who has a closed mind as to the condition of their soul is as good as dead. Why? Because if they lived for 1,000 years, their beliefs would never change. Therefore, they are prepared for judgment, whether right or whether wrong. Just because you think you are correct doesn’t necessarily make you correct.
Christians should be as the Bereans and question what is being taught them daily and compare it to the scriptures (Acts 17:11) They should examine themselves each and every day whether they be in the faith (2 Cor 13:5). They should study or seek diligently to be approved of God, rightly dividing the Word of truth (2 Tim 2:15).
Therefore, listen to what others are saying. Do not close your eyes and ears to the opinion of others. This is what the scribes and Pharisees did to Jesus and his apostles (Mt 10:13-15). Compare what others they say to what the bible actually says and let God’s Word conclude the matter. When you do, you will discover that the gospel of Christ saved every new testament Christian. If it saved them it will save us today. You will find that every saved Christian worshiped God in spirit and in truth (Jn 4:23,24). You will see that every new testament Christian continued in the apostle’s doctrine (Acts 2:42 f; 2 Jn 9). Am I closed minded to what I teach? Absolutely not! This is why I challenge anyone to prove what I teach to be wrong. Show me one person who ‘believed only’, separate and apart from repentance and baptism and were saved and I will change. However, if you can’t, then I plead with you not to be closed minded, and make the change to what the scriptures teach. “Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: “That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged” (Rom 3:4). These are the words which I live by each and every day and I implore you to do the same!
