There’s A Great Day Coming! It is a day when the wicked will no longer rule over the righteous. It is a day when the King of kings takes vengeance on the sinner and rewards the saints. It’s a day when many great things will happen.
The Greatest Crowd Ever Gathered
How large of a crowd have you been in? Perhaps 40 or 50 thousand at a sporting event or concert? This great day will feature every person who has ever lived from day one to the end of time. Imagine all the great names that will be there. All the presidents, all the kings and queens, and all the great minds and inventors which ever existed will be there (Rev 20:12). Matthew 25:32 records, “And before him shall be gathered all nations . . .” By the way, you and I will be in this crowd as well.
The Greatest Book Ever Written Will Be Opened
The Word of God will be the book by which we all will be judged. All other books will be destroyed. John said, “And I saw the dead, small and great stand before God; and the books were opened (Rev. 20:12). The Bible is a collection of 66 books and they will be opened. Jesus said, “He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (Jn 12:48). Paul wrote that we will judged by his “gospel”(Rom. 2:16). The bible has only two testaments, two wills, one old and one new. Israel was disinherited because of her infidelity and the Gentiles were drafted in (Rom 11:22). We had better get to reading, studying and obeying this great book today and make sure we won’t be disinherited too.
The Greatest Judge Will Preside
“For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment unto the Son” (Jn 12:48). Paul put it this way, “In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel” (Rom. 2:16). Christ will be a faithful and fair judge as he knows “what is in man” (Jn 2:25). However, he won’t be prejudiced by the color of our skin, the amount of money we have accumulated, or our rank in society. Our Lord is not a respect of persons (Col 3:25). For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he has done, whether it be good or bad (2 Cor 5:10). Then shall the King of kings and the Lord of lords, Jesus Christ, who created both heaven and earth, and who died for the sins of all creation, preside over all the nations and determine who shall be saved and who shall be condemned (Col :16-18 f; 1 Cor 15:1-4).
The Greatest Separation
Matthew describes it as, “. . . He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats” (Matt. 25:32). Paul penned concerning this great separation regarding, “. . . them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel, shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power” (2 Thess. 1:7-9). At this great day, the saint and sinner will be separated right and left (Mt 25:33). Which line will you be standing? The wide gate or the strait gate? (Mt 7:13,14)
The Greatest Reward
“For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels: and then he shall reward every man according to his works” (Matt. 16:27). It’s like Matthew 25:46 reveals, “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” The righteous will have the right to the tree of life, (Rev 2:7) and the sinner shall have to endure eternal damnation (Rev 20:15). Paradise or Hell Fire, which will your reward be?
Conclusion: Yes, there is a great day coming and it’s not that far away. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord (1 Thess 4:16,17). Brethren, our great day will come in which the called, the chosen and the faithful will reign forever with the King of kings and Lord of lords in a new heaven and a new earth! (Rev 17:14 f; Rev 21:1) Are you ready for that day to come? Prepare today for the greatest day of your life. It’s not too late, for his hand is stretched out still! (Rom 10:21 f; Isa 9:12,17,21) Today is the day of salvation! (2 Cor 6:2)
