There are so many things that religious people do which has nothing to do with their salvation. However, these things could keep many out of heaven. Yet, many are willing to place their soul in jeopardy for things which cannot save them.
No one is commanded to use instrumental music in worship to God, but this doesn’t prevent almost every denominations from having it. We have the commandment to sing and make melody in the heart to the Lord, yet to so many, this doesn’t stop them from adding instrumental music (Eph 5:19). Will instrumental music save your soul? Absolutely not! Then why stand so many in jeopardy every hour? (1 Cor 15:30)
The bible is quite adamant that women must remain silent in the churches. This was not written only to the Corinth church, but to all churches (1 Cor 4:17 f; 1 Cor 14:33-40) . Yet, most denominations have women preachers and teachers in the assembly. Even in the Lord’s church, women enter into back rooms when the church is assembled, and they teach women and children. Where did the bible even once command women to be preachers and teachers? Has a woman sinned if she is not a preacher or teacher? Certainly not! Any Christian woman can quote verses which command them to be chaste keepers at home, tending to the needs of her family (Tit 2:4-5). Yet, so many are willing to place their soul at risk in order to do what the bible surely condemned and not once authorized for women to do. Then why do so many women place their soul in jeopardy every hour? (1 Cor 15:30)
Almost all denominations eat in the church (i.e. in a designated area attached to the church building or a separate building which many call a fellowship hall). Ask those who do such if eating such meals were commanded and they will tell you no. Ask them is one doesn’t eat such meals will they be lost, and most will tell you absolutely not. Paul described those who were abusing the Lord’s supper in 1 Corinthians 11, but his solution was not only to instruct them the true purpose of the communion (vs 24-26); but also Paul also gave a direct commandment for all the saints in every church to eat at home and not when the church is assembled (vs. 34). So, if eating such meals are not commanded, if eating such meals won’t save you, and if not eating such meals won’t condemn anyone, then why are so many willing to place their soul in jeopardy every hour? (1 Cor 15:30)
Conclusion: Actually, this lesson could go on and on, but the point is quite clear. There are multitudes of so called Christians who are willing to go to hell for things the bible did not command. The new testament never once commanded instrumental music, but they do it just the same. The new testament never commanded eating in the church, but they do it just the same. The new testament never commanded women to be preachers and teachers in the assembly, but they do it just the same. Why do they do such things? Because they have no respect for the commandments or the silence of God! Paul made it quite clear, “And whatsoever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him (Col 3:17). If God commanded it, do it! (Lk 8:21) If God didn’t command it, don’t do it! (1 Cor 4:6) It’s just that simple.
