Even though you may be very religious, honest and sincere and zealous in that religion, there is still a very great possibility that you may be wrong. All of these churches that we see in our midst today cannot be right when they teach opposing doctrines.
You may be able to point to the teaching of your parents or your grandparents, or to the doctrine of a well articulated, highly educated, and persuasive preacher, but this does not guarantee you that your religion is right. Remember, Saul who sat at the feet of Gamaliel, could even point to the origin of his religion as being with God, but he was still wrong.
If you are a member of a church that cannot be read about in the New Testament, one that requires ‘faith only’ or a baptism foreign to biblical doctrine ‘sprinkling’, you are definitely in the wrong place if salvation is your goal.
The Lord is the builder of only one church. Eph. 1:22-23 f; Eph 4:4. The entrance into this one church is the one and only gospel of Christ. Eph 4:5 To be faithful in this one church requires one to continue in the doctrine of Christ and his apostles. 2 Jn 9 f; Acts 2:42
If you are a member of the Lord’s church and have fallen away, you need to know that God’s hand is stretched out still. Isa 9:12,17,21 Despite the fact you have strayed from the apostles doctrine or have turned to a life of sin, repentance is your avenue to be right with God. Acts 8:22
Yes, you may be honestly sincere in what you believe, but ignorance of the law of Christ is no excuse. Acts 17:30 Stop following the crowds and adhering to the doctrines and commandments of men which turn men from the truth. Tit 1:14 Such is vain religion and is worthless. Mt 15:7-9 Only those who do the Will of God will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Mt 7:21 “Be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Rom 12:2
