Does the world love you? If you are a Christian, the answer to this question is NO! It is no because faithful Christians love not the world nor the things contained in the world. 1 Jn 2:15,16 I see so called Christians every day who have made friends of the world while ignoring fellow brethren. Brethren, this ought not to be. If one doesn’t love fellow Christians, why would they want to spend an eternity with them? Real Christians are commanded to love one another even as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us. Jn 13:34 Let us examine why faithful Christians don’t make friends of the world, but rather with the future citizens of heaven.
Christians Live Moral Lives
You won’t find faithful Christians in bars, taverns and country clubs. You won’t find them smoking, drinking alcohol, or taking illegal drugs. You won’t them cursing, telling dirty jokes, or gossiping. You won’t find Christians committing adultery, committing fornication or engaging in any work of the flesh. Gal 5:19-21 Christians avoid and flee such things because they know evil companionship corrupts good manners. 1 Cor 15:33 They know not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. 2 Cor 6:14 And then is asked, What do believers and sinners have in common? 2 Cor 6:15
Christians Teach The Gospel
Christians are not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. Rom 1:16 Therefore, when they are in the presence of sinners, they attempt to save them from eternal damnation. They preach and teach in and out of season. 2 Tim 4:2-5 Their man motive is to save a soul from death and to hide a multitude of sins. Jam 5:19,20 They reprove, rebuke and exhort, defend and contend for the faith, and prove all things according to the scriptures. Philip 1:15-18 f; Jude 3
Jesus Told Us
Christians are warned from the very beginning that the world will hate us. Jesus told us they would. We shouldn’t marvel that the world hates us. 1 Jn 3:13 Jesus said, “If the world hate you, you know that it hated me before it hated you.” Jn 15:18 “If you were of the world, the world would love his own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Jn 15:19 Because Jesus was not of this world, neither are his children, thus, Christians are hated. Jn 17:14 As Jesus reminded us, “Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.” Jn 15:20
