Jesus warned those who had closed their senses to His Word. He said, “For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them.”Mt 13:15
There are many so called religious people who believe that they are going to heaven, and their mind is all made up. To these let me say, whether right or whether wrong, you are as good as dead and just waiting to be judged by Jesus Christ. I have spoken to many in the church who have reached this same conclusion. They have closed their mind and believe that they are among the few who are going to heaven. Now, this lesson is not to judge anyone, but know this, everyone can’t be right believing differently. All can be wrong, but all can’t be right when they disagree on how to be saved and what keeps one saved. If your mind is still open, and your heart is not closed, let the bible instruct you the way of God.
How To Be Saved
Jesus came to seek and save that which is lost. Lk 19:10 God sent his Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins, but until one obeys the gospel, Jesus’ death profits them not. The gospel of Jesus Christ was preached into all the world in the days of the apostles. Col 1:23 This gospel states that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and arose again from the dead the third day according as was prophesied of him in the scriptures. 1 Cor 15:1-4
If you believe this with your heart and confess such with your mouth; If you repent and are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins. Then are you added to the Lord’s church by Jesus Christ. Rom 10:9,10 f; Acts 2:38; Acts 2:47 This is the beginning of your salvation. No, it doesn’t mean you are saved. What it means is that you are in a saved condition. It means that if you died in the flesh at this moment, you would be saved. However, all Christians must remain faithful to the doctrine of Christ in order to be saved. Rev 2:10
How To Worship God
One of the things a Christian must do in order to remain faithful is to worship God in Spirit and in Truth. Jn 4:23,24 This means a Christian must worship God according to what the Spirit revealed to all the churches through the apostles. 1 Cor 2:13 This means continuing in the apostle’s doctrine. Acts 2:42 The church itself was built, paid for and headed by Jesus Christ. Mt 16:18 f; Acts 20:28 The church was named after the one who is its head, Christ Jesus. Col 1:18 f; Rom 16:16 The local church was headed by qualified elders, and assisted by qualified deacons. 1 Tim 3:1-13 The apostles met on Sunday to remember the Lord’s death, and to give of their means. Acts 20:7 f; 1 Cor 16:1-3 The apostles commanded singing with the voice and making music with the heart. Eph 5:19 Christians heard the Word by the means of preaching. Acts 20:7 ;ff 2 Tim 2:2; 2 Tim 4:2-5 They sang and prayed with the Spirit and understanding also. 1 Cor 14:15
How To Live Morally
Christians live most of their life outside of the assembly. They must live a just and moral life before God and mankind. This means that they must keep the laws of the land, and honor and obey all who are in authority. Rom 13:1-7 Christians must avoid all works of the flesh such as adultery, fornication, homosexuality, etc. Gal 5:19-21
Christians Suffer For The Cause of Christ
All the saints of God who live godly will suffer persecutions. 2 Tim 3:12 They suffer not for the cause of the world, but for the cause of Christ. 1 Pet 4:16 They must walk in the same paths of Christ who suffered not for wrong doing, but for doing that which was right in the sight of God. 1 Pet 2:20,21 All faithful Christians will suffer in the same like manner for a while until we are perfected, established, strengthened, and settled. 1 Pet 5:9-10 You won’t find one Christian being persecuted and another going free from persecutions. God is not a respecter of persons. Acts 10:34 f; Col 1:25 The prophets of God were persecuted, Christ was persecuted, and so were his apostles. Christians will be persecuted as well.
Conclusion: If you have done all these things you have a right to have your mind made up. However, if you have not obeyed the gospel; If you worship not God in Spirit or in truth; If you have not lived a just and moral life; If you have not suffered for the cause of Christ: Then you better hope that your mind is not all made up, for if it is, the next voice you will hear on this subject won’t be me or any other person here on earth, but God. Jesus said all who obey not the Will of God will hear these words: “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” Mt 7:21-23 If you have eyes to see, ears to hear, and mind to understand, God’s Word is not hard to comprehend. Therefore, Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your heart!” Heb 3:7,8 Today is the accepted time. Today is the day of salvation. 2 Cor 6:2
