All Aboard!

When it comes to God, we are either for him, or we are against him. There is no in between when it comes to God. Rev 3:15,16 We can not compromise God’s Word with error, and expect God to accept it. We either get on board with God, or we get off. Nothing illustrates that better than Noah’s ark, and Christ’s church.

God saved Noah and his family, but it wasn’t by faith only. Noah had to initially believe God’s warning of impending doom, and then had to obey God’s commandments. God commanded Noah to build an ark make of gopher wood. God commanded Noah to use specific measurements in building the ark. The length was to be 300 cubits, the breadth was to be 50 cubits, and the height to be 30 cubits. Gen 6:15 God commanded Noah to take 7 of every kind of unclean animal, and 2 of every kind of clean animal into the ark. This he did one week before the flood. All these Noah did as God commanded, no more and no less. Last, but not least, Noah and his family got on board into the Ark, and God shut the door. Gen 7:7-9,16

God sent his only begotten son to warn mankind of another impending doom. Jn 3:16 Subsequent to His crucifixion and resurrection from the dead, Jesus commanded his apostles to preach the gospel into all the world. Mt 28:19,20 Contained in this gospel were the same basic plans God had commanded Noah. Initially after hearing the gospel, one must believe from the heart that Jesus is the Christ the son of God, who was crucified, and arose from the dead the third day. 1 Cor 15:1-4f; Jn 8:24 One must confess this belief with the mouth before men. Rom 10:9,10 Then one must repent and be baptized for the remission of their sins. Acts 2:38 Last, but not least, one is added to the church by Jesus Christ. Acts 2:47

Conclusion: Just as Noah and his family were saved by their obedience to God’s Word, we today are saved today. If we take heed to God’s warning to obey the gospel of Christ, and get on board God’s modern day ship of salvation, the church, we shall be saved.

Peter said, “When once the long suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure where unto even baptism does also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:” 1 Pet 3:21

As Noah and his family endured 150 days upon the ark, even so we must endure the hardships of our journey as members of the Lord’s church. If we endure till the end, we shall be saved. Mt 10:22f: Mt 24:13 ALL ABOARD! The ship is about to sail. 2 Cor 6:2
