Lay Down The Sword of Politics

Lay Down The Sword of Politics

If Jesus came back to earth today, would he be proud of those who have brought politics into the church? Would Jesus say well done to the political world, and praise the division that is causes? (1 Cor 1:10) What does it profit Christians to be divided over political ideology? How many Christians are offended greatly, and turn from the Lord, all because of political rhetoric. (Mt 18:6) Jesus commanded his apostles to go into all the world, and preach the gospel, but never once did he command, or even suggest for us to be political zealots.  (Mk 16:15)  In fact, Paul stated that a good soldier of Christ doesn’t become involved in the affairs of this world. (2 Tim 2:4) Jesus said, my kingdom is not of this world, for if it had been, my servants would fight. (Jn 18:36) Lay down the sword of politics, for they that take such a sword shall perish with it. (Mt 26:52) Let us rather take up the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, and fight to win souls, for the harvest is truly plenteous, but the labors are few. (Eph 6:17; Heb 4:12; Prov 11:30; Mt 9:37)
