Workless Faith is Worthless Faith

Workless Faith in Action

Many say they have faith in God, but their faith comes without works. God demands the faith of Noah, who being warned of God moved with fear, and built the ark; (Heb 11:7) the faith of Abraham, who when God told him to sacrifice his son, was prepared to offer him up, knowing God was able to raise him back from the dead; (Heb 11:17-19) the faith of Moses, who forsook the riches of Egypt, endured the passover, and passed through the Red Sea as by dry land; (Heb 11:24-29) the faith of Elijah, who withstood the 450 false prophets of Jezebel; (1 Kin 18:19-40) the faith of Daniel, and the Hebrew children, who refused to bow down to the false gods and image of King Nebuchadnezzar despite a fiery furnace, and a den of lions; (Dan 3:16-26; Dan 6) the faith of the nameless saints known only to God, who were tortured, mocked, whipped, imprisoned, stoned, cut in half, tempted, killed with the sword, destitute, afflicted, tormented, who wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth, of whom the world was not worthy. (Heb 11:35-38) James said it best: “Faith without works is dead”. (Jam 2:20) Jesus said it plainly, that God was not a God of the dead, but a God of the living. (Mk 12:27) Until our work of faith, and labor of love is born not of words or tongue, but of both Deed and in Truth, we’re dead in our sins. (1 Jn 3:18; 1 Thess 1:13; Col 2:12,13)  Truly, workless faith is worthless faith. (Jam 2:14-18) Even faith itself is called the work of God. (Jn 6:29)  Don’t just have the faith that says, and does not, (Mt 23:3; Lk 6:46) but the kind of faith that believes with the heart, confesses with the mouth, (Rom 10:10) repents and is baptized, (Acts 2:38) and remains faithful until death. (Rev 2:10) Only this kind of faith is pleasing unto God! (Col 1:10; 1 Thess 2:4)
