What Makes A Good Spouse Makes a Good Christian

What Makes A Good Spouse Makes a Good Christian

Marriage between a man and a woman, and the marriage of Christ and the church was uniquely  made by Paul in the book of Ephesians chapter 5.  As the husband is the head of the wife, even so Christ is the head of the Church. As wives submit to their own husbands in everything, even so Christians submit to Christ. As man loves himself (and no one hates their own flesh), so ought man to love his wife, even as Christ also loves the church, and gave himself for it. As Christians so reverence Christ, so also the wife is to reverence her husband. As a man leaves his father and mother to be married to his wife, so also Christians must not love their families ahead of Christ. (Mt 10:37) As marriage was designed to be fruitful, (Gen 1:28) so also Christians are to bring forth fruit. (Mt 13:23) As a husband, and wife are united in marriage till death do they part, except it be for unfaithfulness, (Mt 5:32; 19:9) so also Christians are united in marriage with Christ, except it be for unfaithfulness. (Rev 2:10; Rev 3:11) The bible gives us what it takes to make a good husband, and a good wife, and a good Christian. Oddly enough, they are one in the same: Love | Submission | Reverence | Fruitfulness | Faithfulness
