Love One Another

Love One Another

How beautiful it is to make friends of God’s children. All Christians are to love their family, (Eph 5:25; 1 Tim 5:8; Lk 14:26) their neighbor, (Mt 22:39) and even their enemies, (Mt 5:44) but we are to love our brethren even as Christ also loved us. (Jn 13:34) Imagine, to love someone so much that we are willing to die for them. This is how Christ loved us. (Eph 5:2) This is the new commandment Jesus gave to every Christian. In fact, we can’t love Christ if we don’t love the brotherhood as well. (Jn 13:35; 1 Jn 3:14) Jesus said, “My mother and my brethren are they which hear the word of God, and do it.” (Lk 8:21) And again he said, “Blessed are they which hear the Word of God, and keep it.” (Lk 11:28) The bond between Christians are so entwined, that even errand brethren are never to be counted as an enemy, but are to be warned as brethren. (2 Thess 3:14,15) We as brethren may never totally agree on every issue in the scripture, even as Paul and Barnabas, (Acts 15:2) and Paul and Peter (Gal 2:11-16) had contentions, but we must love one another so much that we will contend for each other’s soul. (Jam 5:19,20)  May brotherly love continue, both in Word and deed, for truly, our salvation depends upon it. (Heb 13:1; 1 Jn 3:17,18; 1 Jn 4:12,20)
