Warning: Don’t Add or Subtract to God’s Word

Warning: Don't Add or Subtract to God's Word

Such a small thing to touch the ark of the covenant. Such a good deed to keep it from falling. Such was the wisdom of Uzzah. (2 Sam 6:6,7; 1 Chron 13:10) Such is the wisdom of mankind. Yet it broke the law of God, and he was struck dead. (Nu 4:15)  Many think that they can do great, and wonderful works in the name of Jesus which the Lord never commanded, and they expect to be rewarded for it. Yet Jesus said to these, “I never knew you.” (Mt 7:21-23) God doesn’t desire the works of man’s doctrine, and never commanded anything that was a burden. (Mt 15:7-9; 1 Jn 5:3) Jesus commanded us to believe in him, and confess it; (Rom 10:10) repent of our sins, and be baptized; (Acts 2:38) and remain faithful to his Word ‘til death. (Rev 2:10) Such small things to ask of us. Such simple things to do. Such is the simplicity in Christ. (2 Cor 11:3) Such is the wisdom of God. Remember, touching the Word of God comes with one important WARNING: Never go beyond that which was written. (1 Cor 4:6; Rev 22:18,19)
