Consider Noah, Naaman, the Israelites, and every Christian. Each of them were saved by water. Noah built the ark saving he and his family from the flood; Naaman dipped 7 himself times in the river Jordan to remove his leprosy; the Israelites walked on dry land in the parting of the Red Sea to escape the Egyptian army; and Christians are baptized (immersed) in water that they might be saved from their sins. One might say that each of these were saved by water, but more importantly wasn’t just the water, but the obedience of God. Many today think that being baptized is a foolish act, but as Naaman’s servant said to him, “If the prophet had bid you do some great thing, wouldn’t you have done it? how much rather then, when he said to you, Wash, and be clean?” Arise, and be baptized today, and wash away your sins, and obey God’s every commandment, because obeying God’s Word Saves!
