I remember as a child that I said to my dad, “Dad, I want to grow up to be just like you.” My dad, a preacher for 63 years, taught me from the cradle to love, and respect the Word of God. He once said, “Son, take God’s Word over my word, and follow no one, but God.” My dad is 82 years young, and is recovering from pneumonia. Today, I saw this mighty man walk from one room to the next with a cane in one hand, a bible in the other, and God’s Word on his tongue. I have never quite got to the level of excellence of his preaching, but it’s not for the lack of trying to be like my dear ole dad. To me dad, you are still the greatest. Happy Father’s Day!
I have always thought that every day should be heavenly Father’s Day. He is the one who loved us so much, that he gave his only begotten son to die for our sins. He is the one who gave us the blue print to eternal life, the holy Word of God. He is the one who has prepared a new heaven, and a new earth for all who obey him. He is the one whose hand is stretched out still. Oh Lord my God, how great you are! Oh to be like you; Oh to be near you; Oh that the world may see our Heavenly Father in us.
